Waco — During the FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) All-Star Victory Banquet held inside the Paul J. Meyer Arena within the Baylor Ferrell Center on the Baylor University campus, local football heroes, Jasenio Anderson of Italy High School, and, Rolando Vega of Milford High School, were recognized along with their FCA Red teammates.

All the cheerleaders and players, from both the FCA Red and FCA Blue teams received medallions commemorating their participation in the upcoming, Third Annual, 2011 Super Centex FCA Victory Bowl.

The players and their guests were welcomed with a meal complete with all the trimmings and were cared for by a full-service wait staff.

Joining Anderson were his mother, Shamelia Anderson, his father, Willie Henderson, Jontae and Angela Anderson and their daughter, Taeja. Vincent Aderson, and nephew Ty Anderson made the trip as well.

Rolando Vega was joined by his Milford Bulldog teammate, Jamie Johnson, and coach, Ronnie Crumpton. Johnson was originally selected to the FCA All-Star lineup, as well, but had to decline the invitation.

Walter Ambercrombie welcomed the guests to the banquet. The opening prayer and a personal coaches testimony was giving by Phil Castles of Corsicana High School. The audience then watched a FCA highlight video featuring pictures of Victory Bowl moments, FCA school groups, FCA sport camps and other FCA sponsored functions such as the Grant Teaff Golf Tournament.

Student athlete testimonials were offered by Jake Talbert and Allie Smith of Crawford High School.

Players from both teams were introduced and handed their Victory Bowl medals. Anderson and Vega were then able to give quick handshakes to their FCA Red teammates as they were each announced and lined up.

With the FCA Red team’s players on one side of the arena and the FCA Blue team standing on the opposite side, both teams were givien an opportunity to make an intimidating pose to one another. Anderson simply smiled and, jestingly, Vega waived, hello. Afterwards, the teams and their cheerleaders received a standing ovation.

Keynote Speaker, Grant Teaff, commented how glad he was that FCA is providing a venue for graduating boys and girls athletes to continue display the talents God has given them during a football game. An All-Star football game at that.

More importantly, how bringing together 85 schools from 12 counties within Central Texas to celebrate the abilities of our young people will help spread the word of God.

Teaff, suggested four points to help individuals make the most of their unique gifts bestowed to them by God:

1. Choose to have a positive attitude
2. Capacity to give total effort in everything that you do
3. Self control and/or self discipline
4. Make a difference in life

Heart of Texas FCA Director, Ben Johnson, gave the closing and all the guests, honored cheerleaders and players exited the Baylor Ferrell Center in anticipation of the Victory Bowl.
