The Italy Gladiators’ head basketball coach, Aidan Callahan, has been honored recently with the Texas 2A Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) Head Basketball Coach of the Year. The prestigous honor was nominated and voted on by Coach Callahan’s peers (all basketball coaches in the state of Texas).

Coach Callahan inherited an established basketball program entering his first year as head coach of the Gladiators but still had many challenges facing his team going into the 2010-2011 season. Evaluating his players on the fly while instituting new offensive systems to best suit their talents proved the most challenging. In the end, however, perseverance allowed the Gladiators to finish as Regional Finalists for the third straight season, and what an amazing season it was.

Congratulations, Coach Callahan, on being named Head Basketball Coach of the Year. The best Texas 2A basketball coach is right here in Italy!
