Obituary: Marberine Wolaver, 1931 – 2011

Marberine Kirby Wolaver of Italy was born February 3, 1931 in Avalon to William “Bill” and Clemmie Etta Southard Kirby and died on May 23, 2011.  She attended Avalon schools, graduating as Valedictorian of her class in 1947.

After attending nursing school in Waxahachie, she worked as a nurse at the Waxahachie Sanitarium (now Baylor Medical Center) where she met her husband, Frank Tolbert “Tollie” Wolaver. They were married on December 31, 1957, and made their home in Italy. She was an excellent seamstress and cook.  She could make a costume for a school play with only a few hours’ notice. If no band uniforms were available to fit the current high school band members, she could duplicate one in hours.  She was always available with homemade cookies and drinks for school parties.

Survivors include two daughters, Susan Wolaver Harris and husband Henry and Carol Wolaver all of Italy and one granddaughter, Hannah Harris.  Marberine was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Chapel in Italy.

Graveside service and interment will be 10AM Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at the Italy Cemetery with Reverend Carson Hastings officiating.
