A local pastor shocked her congregation recently by predicting that “Winter is coming, and not a moment too soon, on August 27th and 28th!”  There was a collective sigh of relief when she went on to explain that renowned Biblical Dramatist Mark Winter, of One Man Show Ministries (www.onemanshow.org) will be traveling to our neck of the woods this coming weekend, to kick off the “Back to School/Back to Church” weekend of celebrations at both Italy and Frost United Methodist Churches.

The weekend of fun begins at 5pm on Saturday, August 27, with an old-fashioned Ice Cream Social and Winter’s Biblical drama at Italy United Methodist Church, 124 Harpold Street.

On Sunday, August 27, the fun continues at the Frost United Methodist Church, 121 E. North Front Street. At 11am Mark Winter will be guest evangelist for Frost’s worship and drama, and Bruce Bacon and his Cowboy Gospel Band will be playing.  A barbecue lunch will follow, with more music from Bacon, as well as fun and games for the kids.  Carter Bloodcare will be on hand during the lunch for a community blood drive, which is being held in honor of Walter McClure, in thanks for all he has done for the God Squad youth group, in raising funds for their mission trip efforts.  Mr. McClure recently lost his home to fire, which makes this special community tribute even more meaningful.
