Halloween is just around the corner! That means it’s time for ghosts and goblins to come out of the wood-works. That’s right, boys and ghouls, it is the hour for the Necroplex to open it’s creaky doors for the fourth year in a row and you are welcome to walk (or run) through…if you dare!

The local haunted house, Necroplex, located just outside of Italy at 348 North Highway 77, will be open for business beginning Saturday, September 24th. The haunt will open again on Saturday, October 1 and will remain open until the second weekend in November. Please check their website for specific dates and times.

Luin McConnell, owner of the local business, is excited for the season to begin, “This year we are co-sponsored by Pepsi and Mountain Dew and we have some great offers for our customers. They can pay one low price and visit three haunted houses—The Parker House in Denton, the Fatal End in the West End and the Necroplex in Italy. It’s a great deal for the individuals who love going to haunted houses. Also, $3.00 off coupons are located at local businesses around Ellis County to use when you come to visit. That makes the visit $15.00 with the coupon.”

McConnell suggests customers go to this website to purchase the combination ticket and if you don’t have the coupon and would like to donate 3 non-perishable canned goods to our local food pantry, you can still get in the scary door for $15.00. A win-win for the Necroplex and the Italy Ministerial Alliance. You cannot combine offers with the coupon, either one or the other.

“Everyone is welcome to come to our opening night on Saturday beginning at 7pm and enjoy the new characters. We have some changes in the sets, a little more interaction with the actors and some new features outside.” McConnell would like to see more groups, such as youth and church groups drop by. “I encourage 12 years and up to come and take the tour. They will have fun and enjoy the trip.” Children under 12 should be accompanied by their parent.

Fourth year veterans, Cyndi and Coda McCarthy are directors and have helped McConnell all along the way. “I want to thank the whole McCarthy family for all their support. I also want to thank volunteers, Chris Kinkaid, Clint McCasland and Leah Moffitt, and our volunteer actors, which are 90% from the local high school with a few exceptions. They all have worked very hard to get Necroplex ready.”
