Mary Dawn Matthews Cope, age 86, of Richardson, Texas passed away Sunday, September 25, 2011 at Methodist Richardson Medical Center.  She was born May 17, 1925 in Italy, Texas to O.M. and Arvie (Eason) Matthews.  

Mary loved calico cats, crocheting, ceramic painting, reading and traveling.  She had many friends at the Brandywine Apartments in Richardson where she lived.  Mary had a great sense of humor and loved her family.

Survivors include her daughter, Jackie Dawn Motley and her husband, Michael of Sachse, Texas; granddaughter Janiece Mary Black of Sachse; two nieces, Phyllis Dawn Mikulak and her husband Larry of Emory, Texas and Shannon Dale Rippey and her husband Bobby of Waxahachie and one nephew Mike Matthews of Denton. She was preceded in death by her parents O.M. and Arvie Matthews; two brothers Otis Matthews, Jr. and Alton Matthews and sister-in-law Dorothy Matthews.

Graveside service and interment will be 11:00 A.M., Thursday, September 29, 2011 at Italy Cemetery in Italy, Texas with Chaplain Gregg Burdette officiating.
