The Italy Park Board spent a good portion of its 1-1/2 hour meeting outlining vendor rules for the Christmas Festival scheduled Saturday, Dec. 3, in downtown Italy.

The event will include vendors in the downtown area, beginning with a parade and entertainment throughout the day.

Members tossed ideas around for more than half-an-hour before they finally voted to restrict duplication of food items.

The wording on the vendor form says the first paid application turned in for any food vendor will have priority. Duplication of food items will not be permitted.

Ronda Cockerham, city representative, said the city attorney must approve liability wording on the vendor form before they are distributed.

Mayor Frank Jackson said the Christmas tree usually located at the end of Main Street will be relocated to the vacant lot where the community center once stood.

Flossie Gowin, Lions Club representative, said they would be holding a pancake breakfast again this year. Tentative plans are to hold it at First Baptist Church.

A subcommittee, consisting of Carolee Farnsworth, James Hobbs and Janet Campbell, was assigned to investigate the purchase of Christmas decorations used in previous years.

They mayor said the city will provide port-a-potties, dumpsters, set up the stage and coordinate with the police department.

Dennis Perkins Jr. was the only member not in attendance.

The next meeting is set for Tuesday, Nov. 1.
