Lady Gladiators land a win against the Lady Eagles

Tuesday night the storm was erupting inside the dome, as Italy took on the Rio Vista Eagles in volleyball. The clouds rolled in and the thunder crashed. The Lady Gladiators sent lightning bolts across the net and electrified the Lady Eagles right where they stood.
Coach Heather Richters watched as her team de-feathered the Lady Eagles on Tuesday night in three games. Italy was aggressive and held their position during the entire match. The final scores were Italy 25-20, 25-23 and 25-16.
During the first two games, Italy and Rio Vista were neck and neck, equally yoked. One serve deserved another. But time for the third game arrived and the Ladies finished the set in total control. The Lady Gladiators put the first, second and third points on the board and everyone knew. Their playing and position was just enough to keep the Lady Eagles at bay. Rio Vista became rattled and could not achieve more than 16 points in the game. Game over, Italy puts a mark in the win column.
The next and final match of the season is Saturday, October 22, beginning at 11:00am in Whitney.
