Milford High School honored by Carter BloodCare

Milford High School recently received an unexpected award from Carter BloodCare. For the 2010-2011 school year, Milford’s senior class had the highest percentage of donors for schools with fewer than 200 seniors. The award recognizes the commitment of last year’s graduating class for supporting Carter’s mission of saving lives by donating blood.

“I was pleasantly surprised to receive this on behalf of the school,” said Alton Chambers, National Honor Society sponsor and host for the annual blood drive. “This was the first year for us to host the blood drive and I wasn’t certain what our turnout might be. It turned out better than expected. Of our 23 graduating seniors, 17 gave blood. Combined with the donations from other classes, staff, and the community we collectively donated 62 units, exceeding our goals for the year.”

The next blood drive scheduled at Milford School is Monday, November 14, from 12:00-5:00 p.m. Those interested in donating may contact Alton Chambers at 972-351-1477.
