Court extends power contract
In an effort to save tax dollars, Ellis County Commissioners voted today to extend the County’s contract with Suez for electricity. The extension will begin in December, 2013 and will run for 18 months at a price of 5.587 cents per kilowatt hour.
Commissioner Heath Sims, pct. 3, cast the only dissenting vote, citing concern that market prices will continue to decrease rather than rising.
Commissioners voted unanimously to extend bid number BPA170 for an additional 12 months, January 1, 2012 through December 31, 2012, for emulsified asphalt from Ergon Asphalt and Emulsions. New pricing reflects an increase of $23.59 per ton for both FOB Plant and Delivered for HFRS-2, CRS-2, MS-2, and CRS-2H, as well as an increase of $35.44 per ton for both FOB Plant and delivered for AE-P and CRS-2P.
According to Purchasing Agent Alisha Wickens, the contractor will not agree to extend at the existing contract price. However, she did indicate the new pricing does represent a substantial decrease from original quotes.
