Obituary: William (Bill) Windham, 1943-2011

William (Bill) Harlan Windham, 67, of Tyler passed away Wednesday.

A graveside service will be held Friday, Dec. 2, at 2 p.m. at Milford Cemetery under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home with Frank Ed Whitson officiating.

He was born Dec. 28, 1943 in Waxahachie to Walter Johnson and Mary Edith Whitson Windham.

He worked for Texas Power and Light for 31 years retiring in 1991. In 1992, he and a partner started Technical Services consulting firm for which he worked until this year.

Mr. Windham was preceded in death by his father, Walter J. Windham; mother and step-father, Mary Edith Whitson Tapp and Leighton Tapp.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Margaret Hull Windham; daughters, Anne Marie Windham of Tyler and Mary (Katy) Lyles and husband Greg of Richardson; grandson, Rogers Harlan Lyles of Richardson; brothers, David Tapp and wife Ann of Belvedere, Tennessee and Mark Tapp and wife Gail of Burlington, North Carolina; sister Rebecca Bullock and husband Jay of Flint and many nieces and nephews. Locally he is survived by Hazel Bumpus, aunt, and Cecil Windham, uncle, both of Italy.

Honorary pallbearers will be Will Evans, Lee Hull, Jim Tapp, J.D. Walker, Noland Crosby, J.R. Staines, Glenn McTee and Steve Dent.

Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Stewart Family Funeral Home in Tyler.
