Proven conservative Paul D. Perry has announced that he will seek the Republican nomination for Ellis County Commissioner, Precinct 3.

“Concerns about the openness of our county government and recent tax increases have led me to run for this office,” says Perry. “Among my core beliefs is government is best that governs least. We need government to do just a few things and do them well. As Ellis County Commissioner for Precinct 3, I would strive to have a lean, efficient county government.”

Perry has worked in the financial industry for 29 years, and concurrently as a mediator for the last 12 years. He also served in elected office from 1995 to 1999 as a Republican Justice of the Peace in the Midlothian area.

“I believe my significant financial management and customer service experience provides exceptional business knowledge for the commissioners’ court. I try to be responsible with what God has blessed me with personally and will be even more responsible with the public’s money. I will not vote for a tax increase. More importantly, I will not vote for a budget that requires a tax increase.”

To increase the openness and transparency of the county government, Perry stresses that he would communicate accurately and regularly with precinct residents.

“If I am elected, everyone should feel comfortable contacting my office by phone or in person. I plan to regularly visit the communities in this precinct,” says Perry.

He has proposed holding quarterly meetings in all the major towns in the precinct. “That means once or twice a month, I’ll be somewhere to listen to residents’ concerns,” says Perry. “You will know where I will be. I would keep these events, as well our county court’s agenda, well-publicized through a variety of outlets – the local papers, social media, websites.”

Perry plans to serve now, not build a career as a government employee. His desire is to contribute his skills and experience gained as an investments manager, a former justice of the peace, and a mediator and be a conservative representative on the Ellis County Commissioners’ Court for the people of Precinct 3.

“For too many, county office has become a career and not a position based on service,” says Perry. “Everyone who serves in public office needs to go back into private life and live under the rules they have put in place. If I am elected and am on the ballot again in four years, I will voluntarily term-limit myself to two terms.”

A seventh-generation Texan, Perry was raised in the Midlothian area; he graduated from Midlothian High School. Perry holds a BBA from Baylor University, where he met his wife of 29 years, Rebecca. They have raised their eight children in Ellis County and reside in the Italy-Milford area.

Perry has been endorsed by former Reagan White House official and former Texas Republican State chairman Tom Pauken, as well as the Texas Republican Freedom Coalition, Gun Owners of America and the GOA Executive Director Larry Pratt.
