January 28th was the official start date for the new Stafford Elementary PTO. It is now up and running and the PTO members are giving their all to make things better at the school.

The new PTO officers are: Tessa South (president), Courtney Janek (vice-president), Ashley Pajack (treasurer) and Nelda Carr (secretary).

One of the things they have done this year is to get every classroom a pencil sharpener. They were looking for donations and their first stop was Italy First State Bank. They did not have to go any further, Mike Boyd and First State Bank gave the PTO the donation they needed for the pencil sharpeners.

In appreciation for the bank’s donation the PTO members put together a goodie basket filled with candy and other treats and presented it on Monday at the bank. Tessa South said, “These very nice people here at First State Bank donated the money for pencil sharpeners for the school. Each classroom now has a pencil sharpener. They didn’t have them before. The teachers are really appreciative and are very, very happy. We are presenting Mike Boyd and the Italy State Bank with this basket filled with candy and treats, just to say thanks.”

Mike Boyd (Senior Vice-President) said, “We appreciate the opportunity to do something like this for the school. Our bank president Mike Montgomery is very interested in doing things for the community and especially for the school. When I was approached by the Stafford Elementary PTO for donations for pencil sharpeners he didn’t hesitate, he said ‘sure we will do that’.”
