Italy Junior High Boys and Girls track teams gave it their all at the recent Itasca Jr High Track Meet. They ran with passion and had some incredible finishes. Participating schools in the event were Italy, Itasca, Rice, Blum, Dawson and Maypearl. Coached by Jeff and Heather Richters, the Gladiators took the track by storm.

The 7th grade girls set the tone early with two first place finishes in the 100m hurdle and 300m hurdle events. Next up we’re the 7th grade boys with first place finishes in the 100m hurdle and 300m hurdle by Joseph Celis. The 8th Grade boys also leaped into contention with top placings in the hurdle events with Jaray Anderson and Levi Mcbride placing first in those events.

Anticipation grew as the relay races were to begin and the athletes focused intently on the coaches’ instructions before taking to the track. The 7th grade girls finished in first in the 4×100m relay as did the 8th grade boys.

Thanks to all the participants and to the coaches for a job well done. The next track meet for the Italy Junior High will be in Rio Vista on April the 2nd hope to see all of the Italy faithful in attendance.
