Obituary: Janet Jo Hoyl Burch, 1935 – 2012

Janet Jo Hoyl Burch, 76, of Italy passed away at her home surrounded by her family on April 19, 2012. Janet was born in Decatur, Texas on July 15, 1935 to Archie and Doris Hoyl. She graduated from Decatur High School. She married Robert Burch on August 20, 1955. 

Janet graduated from North Texas State University in Denton with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She received her Masters of Education from Texas Woman’s University in Denton. 

Janet unconditionally loved her God, family, community and friends. She loved children and touched and impacted the lives of all her students and their parents. She taught 3rd Grade at Avalon Elementary for 10 years before joining the Ellis County Coop as an Educational Diagnostician. 

She never met a stranger and always made everyone feel important to her because they were. While her husband, Bob, was a coach at Italy High School, she became the “team mom” to all of the athletes for many years. 

Janet had a great sense of humor, loved to laugh and relished playing practical jokes on her family. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. 

One of the things Janet loved most was visiting with her friends at the Uptown Café in Italy. 

Janet is survived by her children Julie Helms and her husband Gary of Italy, Robert Burch, Jr. of Irving, and Stephany Allman and husband Jason of Italy; grandchildren Lindsey Cymbalski, McKenzie Stringfield and husband Jerry, Dane Allman, and Gatlin Allman; great-grandson Logan Stringfield; sister Joyce Davenport of Rockwall; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert Burch, and Sister, Jane Engel. 

Visitation will be 6-8 Saturday, April 21 at Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Chapel in Italy. 

Funeral Services will be at 2 PM, Sunday, April 22 at Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Chapel in Italy. Interment will follow at the Italy Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be Gary Helms, Jason Allman, Richard Neal, Lee Goodwyn, Anthony Crowley and Jerry Stringfield.
