Lady Gladiator track athletes advance to Regionals
Lady Gladiator track and field athletes, Jameka Copeland, Kortnei Johnson and Jimesha Reed will represent Italy during the Regional competition at Tarleton State University. (Barry Byers)
Italy Track & Field update:
Lady Gladiators:
At the recently held district track meet in Rio Vista, junior Lady Gladiator, Jameka Copeland, was Italy’s first regional qualifier with a 3rd place triple jump of 31’3". Shortly after,freshman Lady Gladiator, Kortnei Johnson, won the varsity girls long jump with a leap of 17’10".
Senior Lady Gladiator, Jimesha Reed, advanced to egionals in the shot put event with a throw of 35’ to finish in 3rd place. Johnson, earned 3rd place in the 100m dash with a time of 12.16, the winning time was 11.87. Johnson, also advances in the 200m dash.
JV Gladiators:
Italy’s, Marvin Cox, took 1st place and, Eric Carson, finished in 2nd place during the boys long jump event. Tyvion Copeland, took 2nd place in the boys high jump. Carson also won the boys triple jump with an effort of 37’7".

Copeland, Johnson and Reed will be representing the Lady Gladiators during the regional competition beginning Friday, April 27, on the Tarleton State University campus in Stephenville, Texas.
