Italy ISD School Board makes several new hires
In a special called meeting of the Italy Independent School District on May 1, the Board of Trustees gathered to approve some new hires for the district.
After the meeting was called to order, school board president Larry Eubank established a quorum with the board and the agenda for the meeting proceeded.
On the agenda was the recommendation to hire Brandon Duncan, William Braswell and Blake Godwin. Brian and Amy Ramsey were also recommended for hire. The interview committees included Andi Windham, Murrie Wainscott, Marilyn Seidlitz, Michael Chambers, athletic director, Hank Hollywood and principal, Lee Joffre.
Mr. Duncan will be an elementary P.E. teacher, along with football, basketball and spring sports coach and was not available for comment.
Mr. Godwin will be the new Agriculture teacher at IHS. “I graduated last December from Sam Houston State and went to high school in Athens. I am very excited about building a program in Italy.”
William Braswell, currently a coach at Mildred High School, will be the new social studies instructor and a coach in football, power lifting and spring sports. “I have been coaching for 13 years in 5A down to 1A and I am looking forward to working with Coach Hollywood in Italy,” Braswell stated. He lives in Corsicana, raising three children with his wife.
Mr. and Mrs. Ramsey live in Memphis, Texas and were not able to be present but are recommended for hire in Social Studies, and Jr High Science and technology classes.
