Italy’s Kortnei Johnson leaves for state track meet hoping to return with gold

Italy — On Thursday, after a lap around Willis Field, Italy High School freshman track star, Kortnei Johnson, packed up her track gear and left for the UIL State Track & Field Meet
2012 Championships in Austin with teammate, Jameka Copeland, and IHS Athletic Director, Hank Hollywood.
Johnson has a realistic chance to achieve a gold medal in three events and will be competing in the Girls 2A 200 Meter Dash with a seed time of 24.80, the Girls 2A 100 Meter Dash with a seed time of 12.02 and the Girls 2A Long Jump with a qualifying seed mark of 18-08.25. The meet will be held inside the Mike A. Myers Stadium on the University of Texas campus.
