The Italy School Board of Trustees hired Catherine Hewett as the high school science teacher at a special meeting held Monday evening in the administration office.

Lee Joffre, high school principal, introduced Hewett, a 2006 graduate of Celina High School, to board members. Hewett is a graduate of Liberty University in Virginia.

Cheryl Owen made the motion and Russ Lewis seconded the motion to hire the new teacher. The motion passed unanimously.

Following the single new business item, the board convened into executive session to discuss personnel. They took no action before adjourning.

The regular monthly meeting will be held Monday, July 23.
