We were a sad community indeed after our beloved Mama’s Place Mexican Restaurant sold it’s final breakfast burrito and unplugged the open sign for the last time a couple of weeks ago. This week, fortunately, with La Estrellita II now painted on the familiar signage that served as a beacon to hungry travelers for so long, the open sign is again glowing strong as breakfast burritos and many more exciting new dishes are being served daily. By the way, La Estrellita means “star” in Spanish.

Now owned and operated by the Hernandez and Nava family, who also own La Estrellita in Avalon, La Estrellita II of Italy has a remodeled interior with a new coat of paint and prides itself on authentic Mexican food and its friendly service. The tortillas are handmade every morning and the tortilla chips and three choices of hot sauces are made daily, as well.

Many of the cooks and wait staff are former employees of Mama’s Place and will happily prepare any of our former favorite dishes. However, La Estrellita II’s light and soft tortillas, fluffy scrambled eggs and tasty new recipes will likely leave each of us craving the new menu below:
