Obituary: Sidney Scott Reeves, 1936 — 2012

Sidney Scott Reeves, age 76, of Italy, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Trinity Mission Health and Rehab.

He was born August 5, 1936 and graduated from Italy High School. He attended the University of North Texas where he received his BA and MA degrees in Elementary Education.

On February 22, 1958 he married his wife Jane (Jones) Reeves.

He served in the U.S. Army as a Spec 4 Communications from 1958-1960. Sid had a short career in advertising, and 32 years in education before retiring from Stafford Elementary School in 2000.

He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Italy, Texas. He held offices over his life membership as Lay Leaders, Secretary, Greeter and Lay Leader to Annual Conferences. One of Sidney’s great loves was working with the Franklin Graham’s Organization and the Samaritan Purse each year.

Survivors include his wife, Jane; daughter, Shelley Reeves; granddaughter, Courtney Davidson; brother, Bob & wife Connie Reeves; as well as numerous loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Ty Scott Reeves; parents, James Sid and Fannie Ruth (Scott) Reeves; maternal grandparents, G.W. and Lula Smith Scott; paternal grandparents, Sam Morrison and Delila (Peavyhouse) Reeves.

Pallbearers will include Darin Reeves, Steven Bennett, Cody Reeves, Mason Reeves, Parker Reeves, and Jason Harris.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday, November 19, 2012 at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Chapel.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 P.M. Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Chapel in Italy, Texas. Officiating will be Reverend Joe Chamness and Reverend Leah Gregory.
