Italy Gladiator Marvin Cox – Central Texas Defensive Player of the Week

Marvin Cox, who is best known for his offensive prowess as starting quarterback for the Italy Gladiators, was selected this week as the Central Texas Defensive Player of the Week after recording 3 interceptions (2 of which the senior ran back for touchdown’s of 94 and 93-yards), making 6 tackles (4 solos) and totaling 4-PBUs or passes broken up to help Italy claim the area championship by defeating the Valley View Eagles 35-14 at Pennington Field in Bedford.

Cox offensive stats were equally as impressive. Cox completed 7-of-12 passes for 47-yards and rushed 19 times for 125 yards. Along with his two defensive touchdowns, Cox ran in another touchdown on offense as well as a two-point conversion to score 20 of Italy’s 35-points.
