Hobbs for mayor
James Hobbs has tossed his hat in the proverbial ring for mayor of Italy. Having his ‘feet wet’ by serving on the Italy City Council he is now ready for more.
When asked why he wanted to run for mayor, Hobbs replied, “As a city council member I had a lot of citizens talk to me about various issues that they were quite concerned about in our city. Several of them asked me to run for the position of mayor and it got me to thinking. My internal instinct is to try and help the city of Italy and it’s citizens. As mayor I would have a better chance of making some positive changes for the city.”
He went on to say, “Being a business owner, a civil servant for a span of 40 years serving as a firefighter and a bailiff, all of which includes dealing with mayors and city councils and other emergency management groups makes me a strong candidate for mayor for the citizens of Italy. I would continue to be an asset to the city.”
James Hobbs was born and raised in South Houston. He worked for the Houston Fire Department for 32 years. After retirement he served as a bailiff in Galveston. Upon the evacuation from Hurricane Ike he and his wife Joyce landed in Italy where he bought the feed store and has been hooked on Italy and it’s citizens ever since.
When asked what she thought about James running for mayor, Joyce replied, “I am very supportive and proud of James’s decision to run for mayor. He will be a good and fair mayor. He will put Italy first, push for growth, and put forth every effort to do a good job. I think people will be very pleased with him because he has a good heart and truly cares about the citizens of Italy very deeply.”
Hobbs said, “It is very important to me that the citizens of Italy get a voice in city government. The City of Italy belongs to the citizens of Italy.”
