Austin — Competing in the 2013 86th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays (for qualifying High School athletes), for the second year in a row, Italy High School sophomore Kortnei Johnson left no doubt in the Class A 100 meter dash when she finished with a time of 11.82, just one one-hundreth of a second off from setting a new state record. Johnson ran a 11.52 in the prelims the day before.

Back in 2012, Johnson came in 2nd place as a freshman with a time of 12.01, also in the 100 meter dash. During the annual invitation only event held this past weekend inside the Mike A. Myers Stadium, the home of The University of Texas Longhorn track and field and soccer teams and also home to the USATF Elite Running Circuit Austin Track Club, Johnson also competed in the long jump with a recorded distance of 5.31.

Expect Johnson to return to Austin later this track season to compete in the University Interscholastic League Class A track and field state championship in May where she won 1st place in the Class AA 100 meter dash last year to become a state champion with a time of 11.97.
