Italy track stars were successful competing at regionals in Abilene

Italy Track & Field — Saturday’s regional results in Abilene:

Kortnei Johnson – sophomore

  • 1st place in 100M Dash and is State bound
  • Broke the 1A Regional 100M Dash record of 12.16 with a time of 11.35
  • 1st place in 200M Dash and will compete in the State level in this event as well
  • Broke the 1A Regional 200M Dash record with a time of 24.03

Ryheem Walker – senior

  • 5th place in 110M Hurdles

Halee Turner – freshman

  • Qualified for State in Triple Jump with a second place jump
  • Placed 3rd in 100M Hurdles
  • Placed 4th in 300M Hurdles

Halee Turner(fr) / Kendra Copeland(jr) / Ryisha Copeland(jr) / Kortnei Johnson(so)

  • Placed 2nd in 4×100 relay and will compete at State

Italy Track & Field — Friday’s regional results in Abilene:

Kortnei Johnson

  • 3rd in Long Jump
  • Johnson won her prelim heats and had the fastest times in 100M Dash and 200M Dash.

Ryheem Walker

  • Ryheem Walker made the finals in 110 Hurdles
  • Will Triple Jump tomorrow.

Halee Turner

  • Made the finals in the 100M Hurdles and in the 300M Hurdles. Turner has a descent shot at making it to state in both events.
  • Will Triple Jump tomorrow.

Halee Turner / Kendra Copeland / Ryisha Copeland / Kortnei Johnson

  • Italy’s girls 4×100 Relay is currently sitting second going into the finals tomorrow

The top 2 in each finals’ event will go to compete at state in Austin on May 10th and 11th.
