Within two minutes of opening the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and invocation, the Italy ISD School Board convened into executive session. After 30 minutes of deliberation, the board came to a unanimous conclusion to hire Davee Garcia as a 4th grade teacher for Stafford Elementary. Barry Basset made a motion to hire Mrs. Garcia and Cheryl Owen seconded.

Mrs. Garcia is from Italy and in fact, lives almost across the street from the Administration building. Davee is married to Albert Garcia, Jr., long time friend and citizen of Italy. Mrs. Garcia is coming from Cedar Hill ISD, Plummer Elementary. Several years ago, she was a part-time ARI teacher at Stafford and she is ready to return and teach full time.

In the next order of business, the board was to consider the depository extension through 2015. This discussion was to decide if Italy ISD will continue to use the existing bank for their accounts. The deadline for this decision is June 15. The board unanimously decided to continue with Citizens National Bank of Italy until 2015. The Board will need to decide again at that time to continue.

The plans for expansion of the Ag-Science program are ready for Q & A but at this time the decision was made to table discussion. Ag teacher, Blake Godwin, was not present at the meeting.

Board members in attendance were Sal Ramirez, Larry Eubank, Barry Bassett, Paul Cockerham, Cheryl Owen, Ida Overton and Russ Lewis.
