School board approves new hires, coaching assignments
The Italy School Board of Trustees held a special meeting Wednesday evening to hire teachers and align coaching assignments.
Following the call to order, the group, led by Cheryl Owen, vice president, convened into executive session. They returned 40 minutes later and unanimously approved the new staff.
At Stafford, Melissa Badard, counselor, introduced Angela Chambers, CBI teacher; Christie Hyles and Melinda Haake, third grade teachers. The new physical education teacher is Brandon Ganske.
Chambers taught school eight years and is leaving the Crowley ISD. Hyles was a former teacher at Stafford and had a total of eight years teaching experience. Haake, currently at the Ferris ISD, has taught 11 years. Ganske, a coach in the Iola ISD, has five years teaching experience.
On the secondary level, changes include: Bobby Campbell, health, physical education, transfer from Stafford Elementary; Wayne Rowe, social studies, moved from English; Vivian Moreland, ELA, moved from speech/health; Jon Cady, junior high math, from Mansfield ISD; David Graves, assistant band director, previously at Waco ISD; Holly Bradley, high school math, moved from Content Mastery; and Morgan Mathews, business administration, from Copperas Cove.
Charles Tindol, athletic director, announced the coaching assignments. Tindol, AD, OC, track; Campbell, receivers, DB, head boys track coach, power lifting coach; Rowe, OL, DL, head softball coach, assistant basketball coach; Ganske, RB, LB, head basketball coach, assistant baseball coach; and Cady, head baseball, assistant football, assistant basketball.
The coaching staff for the girls include Melissa Fulmer, CC, head basketball coach, tennis coach; Mathews, head volleyball coach, assistant basketball coach, assistant softball or track; Tina Richards, assistant volleyball, basketball, softball; and Bradley, junior high basketball, volleyball.
Board members Paul Cockerham and Mark Stiles were not in attendance.
