Central Baptist Church in Italy will host a Celebrate Recovery informational meeting Thursday, Aug. 29, at 7 p.m. in The Cornerstone on Main Street.

Celebrate Recovery is a biblical and balanced program that helps people overcome hurts, hang-ups and habits by showing them the loving power of Jesus Christ through a recovery process. It is based on the actual words of Jesus rather than psychological theory.

Celebrate Recovery is based on eight principals of the Beatitudes found in the Gospel of Matthew. The 12 steps to recovery, found in other recovery programs, are backed up in this program with scripture.

This informational meeting is for anyone interested in volunteering for any one of the many available positions. The group needs volunteers to provide child care, refreshments, transportation, lead worship, serve as small group leaders and co-leaders, greeters, assimilation coach and apprentice, training coach and apprentice, encourager coach and apprentice, ministry leader and apprentice, prison liaison and prayer warriors.

The program, written by John Baker, launched 20 years ago at Saddleback Church in California.
