Italy — The 1A Italy JV Gladiators welcomed the 2A Malakoff JV Tigers to Willis Field this past Thursday with the Tigers making themselves right at home on their way to a blowout win.

Thirty-four JV Tiger players arrived to take on eighteen JV Gladiators in what quickly proved to be a lopsided battle.

Italy quarterback Joe Celis did what he could but Tigers seemed to be everywhere as Italy’s offense remained grounded for much of the game. In the end, Malakoff defeated Italy 41-0 but Gladiator fans appreciate the effort by our boys who continued to play hard until the final buzzer.

Other solid efforts were turned in by Dylan McCasland, Hunter Ballard, Adrian Acevedo on both sides of the ball and Italy’s offensive line with David De La Hoya at center, Austin Pittmon, Aaron Pittman, Austin Crawford, Kenneth Norwood, Jr., and Samuel Corley.

The JV Gladiators will have a chance to improve on their 0-2 mark when Sunnyvale’s JV squad comes to town tomorrow, Thursday, September 12. The game is slated to start at 6:00 p.m.

Italy Junior High squad will see their first game action of the season with their season opener starting at 5:00 p.m. against Sunnyvale, also at home on Willis Field.

Go Italy!
