Wallis added to all-tournament team as Lady Gladiators finish 3rd in Hubbard

Hubbard — During their final game of the three day Hubbard Girls/Boys Varsity Basketball Tournament, the Lady Gladiators trailed Bosqueville 9-8 at the end of one but reclaimed the lead by halftime, 17-15.

Point guard Tara Wallis ran the show with assistance from Ryisha Copeland. Alex Minton and Bernice Hailey helped to fill the void left by injured senior Kendra Copeland. Making her presence felt was post player Cory Chance who put in 7-points. Center Jaclynn Lewis added 4-points and Kortnei Johnson made the most of her fast break opportunities to finish with 24-points. Johnson also mixed in a couple of mid-range jump shots for a well-rounded outing.

Wallis hit a 3-pointer in the third to finish with 5-points and also received an all-tournament medal following Italy’s 45-32 win over Bosqueville.

Congratulations to the Lady Gladiators, head coach Melissa Fullmer and assistant coach Tina Richards on winning 2-out of-3 games over the course of the tournament to earn a 3rd place finish.
