Epiphany Quasi-Parish Roman Catholic Church receives a $25,000 grant
Epiphany Catholic Church received a $25,000 grant on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 from The Catholic Foundation. The funds were used for a just completed expansion of their parking lot. Thirty additional parking spaces, including two handicap spaces, were added. Additional funds were provided by Bowles Construction and the Epiphany Building Fund to complete the project. Mass attendance at Epiphany has increased tremendously over the years, creating a parking strain for parishioners. Therefore, the need for additional parking spaces was established.
The Catholic Foundation makes funds available to deserving religious, educational, and charitable organizations. The Catholic Foundation’s Distribution Committee reviewed grant requests from the Dallas Diocese Catholic community, including the request from Epiphany. Epiphany was among 25 organizations within the Diocese of Dallas that received a total of $792,990 in grants from the Foundation last fall.
“Epiphany Quasi-Parish is vibrant and growing. They are in the midst of renovating their parish hall (now completed) and are doing most of the work through parishioners. The church, which The Catholic Foundation helped in funding, is already packed full at their Sunday Mass with only standing room. They have very little paved parking and this would help,” noted Raul Estrada, member of The Catholic Foundation Board of Trustees and chair of the Distribution Committee.
Epiphany has benefited greatly from grants provided by The Catholic Foundation. Over the past 12 years Epiphany has received $167,500 to build and improve the church building and the parking lot. The following is a list of the grants and how the money was used.
- 2002 – $55,000 used to assist in building the church
- 2004 – $50,000 used to assist in building the church
- 2011 – $37,500 used to repaint the interior and exterior of the church and to build cabinets for the sacristy
- 2013 – $25,000 used to expand the parking lot
Epiphany Quasi-Parish thanks The Catholic Foundation for their continued generosity. Epiphany would also like to thank the city of Italy and surrounding communities for their support.
