Six Italy ISD Students participated in the FCCLA Region III Star Event Competitions in Irving on February 28 and March 1.

Adriana Celis, Alexis Sampley and Julissa Hernandez took 1st place for Environmental Ambassadors, Zac Mercer took 1st place for Teach and Train, and Chace McGinnis and Tia Russell took 3rd place for Sports Nutrition.

Each group/individual put together an extensive project, with their own twist, making sure to include all the required elements. Once at the event, the students were required to make an oral presentation in front of a panel of judges.

For the majority of these students it was their first time to ever compete at a FCCLA event. The students will travel to Corpus Christi April 9-12 to compete in the State level competition with the chance of advancing to Nationals in July.

“I am so incredibly proud of these kids for the hard work they put in. Even when it would have been easier to quit, they buckled down and put in the extra hours to make it right. Now they need to make adjustments and get ready for State!” Italy High School FCCLA Advisor, Jennifer Eaglen
