The sixth grade band class from Stafford Elementary participated in the Riesel HS Solo and Ensemble Contest this past Friday, February 28. Of the twenty-six students who participated, twenty-one earned top honors (a superior “1” rating), and five earned an excellent (“2”) rating.

This is the first year in the history of the Italy band program that sixth graders have participated in such an event, where individuals and small ensembles (versus the full band) are featured.

Congratulations to these students for their hard work and outstanding achievement!

The sixth grade band will now begin to prepare for the McLennan Community College Highlands’ Young Band Festival, to be held on the MCC campus in Waco on May 16.
