Italy Gladiator head coach Brandon Ganske submits the 2014 District 14 1A-1 All-Dsitrict List with a total of 8 Gladiators receiving All-District accolades.

Senior TaMarcus Sheppard was given the only superlative awarded to Italy this season as the district’s Defensive MVP. Fellow Senior Trevon Robertson was the only Gladiator to earn 1st team honors while senior Zain Byers and freshman Kevin Johnson each received 2nd team honors.

Italy also managed 4 players on the Honorable Mention All-District list with seniors Darol Mayberry, Tyler Anderson and Bailey Walton earning honors as did junior Cody Boyd. Boyd was also Italy’s lone representative on the All-Academic Team.

It was a solid season for the Gladiators who were the district runner-up, won the team’s first playoff game in three-seasons by defeating Valley View for the bi-district championship and then wrapped up their season as area finalists. Not bad for Coach Ganske who flourished in his first-year as head basketball coach for the Gladiators. Ganske also had plenty of help from assistant coaches Jon Cady throughout and Larry Mayberry, Sr., earlier in the season.
