North Central Texas Council of Governments asked City of Italy’s Public Works Director Dean Carrell to speak at their 15th Annual North Texas Public Works Roundup. Mr. Carrell was part of a workforce issues panel and discussions. Carrell spoke to the public works professionals from across the region on managing regional issues.

Not only did Mr. Carrell speak and do a powerpoint, he also received an award for serving on the board of the North Texas Council of Government. Mr. Carrell also received this year, his water professional certification from Texas A&M University Texas Engineering Extension Service. Only 25 people have received this award from A&M, Mr. Carrell was very instrumental in upgrading our water system here in Italy. He was the one who was the over-seer of the construction of the new water plant. Mr. Carrell and his staff are doing a great job in keeping our Public Works Dept (Water, Sewer, and Street) upgraded and in working order with the funds that are allotted. The city is fortunate to have someone like Mr. Carrell on its staff.

In Addition, to the awards that were mentioned, Mr. Carrell has a large portfolio of awards, licenses and certificates that has accumulated in his over twenty years of Public Works. Mr. Carrell has been married to Sandra Carrell for thirty years, they have four children Christopher, Cassie, Cameron, and Chelsie. They have also have eight grandchildren. The Carrell’s have made their home here in Italy.
