The Italy ISD Board of Trustees approved hiring five staff members at Stafford Elementary and two new staff for Italy High School. Superintendent, Jaime Velasco, stated this completed hiring for the year.

Jeremiah Glover will be teaching Art and working as an Instructional Technologist and LaToya Smith will be teaching high school science.

The new staff for Stafford are Counselor Angela Green, Pre-K teachers Margaret Lyons and Jessika Otero, Kindergarten teacher Sandra Masterson and Lari Licon, SPED and Resource.

The Board also accepted the resignations of Octavia Dorazil, PPCD; Sue Mendoza, SPED/Resource; Marilyn Seidlitz, Art; and Catherine Hewett, High School Science.

Mr. Velasco reported that on July 30th, the architect will do a walk through with the engineer and Michael Chambers regarding the Master Plan.

Michael Chambers presented the June Facilities Report.

“The floor tile project is complete at both campuses,” Chambers reported. “The dome floor is also complete. The exterior of the dome has been painted and Monolithic is scheduled to install new gutters soon.”

Chambers also said that summer cleaning is moving along well and his crew is doing a great job. The football field wood fence has been replaced with new metal fence. He also said that in addition to the new tile floors, the Junior High wing has been painted.

The board also approved a resolution recognizing the Ellis County Texas 4-H Organization as eligible for extracurricular status consideration.

They also approved an Adjunct Faculty Agreement with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service of Ellis County, a yearly requirement.

The trustees discussed the Student Handbook, Student Code of Conduct and Employee Handbook. The handbook states that E-cigarettes will not be allowed on either campus.
