Parent/Guardian:
Kelsey is the daughter of Doug and Kim Nelson of Italy.

Plans after High School:
After graduating Italy High School in 2015, Kelsey Nelson plans to attend college at the University of Oklahoma where she has earned a scholarship to be a part of the Navy Reserve Officers’ Training Corps and pursue a degree in law.

Personal/Scholastic Accomplishments:
Some achievements that Kelsey is proud of include her class ranking. She is also proud that when she graduates, she will have successfully completed 36 hours toward her college education. She is proud of having been part of several recognized groups and clubs in high school including band, Gifted and Talented, National Honors Society, student council, and Lady Gladiator athletics. She is proud of the friendships she has formed at Italy High School which have given her fun and encouragement. Kelsey is most proud of her younger sisters and older brother who make her a proud sister.

Influential Person:
The most influential people in Kelsey’s life are her parents. Her mom and dad have pushed her throughout her life to strive for bigger goals and accomplish them. They taught Kelsey the importance of education when she was little, and for that she will always be grateful. Kelsey knows she can lean on her parents and knows that they will support her no matter what. Kelsey says having parents who have her back with whatever she wants to do is truly a blessing; she has no clue where she’d be without them. “They have molded me into the person that I am. I hope that I have made them proud so far and that I will continue to do so throughout the rest of my life. I love you, mom and dad.”

Educator Appreciation:
“Throughout my years of school I have been blessed to have educators who really care about me and my education. First, I would like to thank the lady who gave me a love for school, Patricia Terrell, and the two women who gave me a love for math, Debra Prowell and Casey Holden. I would like to give thanks to Coach Tina Richards and Coach Johnny Jones for teaching me to fight for what I want and to never stop competing. I will never stop appreciating the kind words of encouragement that I received from Margie Davis, Vivian Moreland, and Dora Bassett which were sometimes the only things that kept me moving forward during challenging times. Last but not least, I would like to thank both Mr. and Mrs. Joffre and also Mrs. Miller for educating me about how life is going to be after high school and for putting me on the right path to follow my dreams.”
