Clara Woodall Owens, age 76, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the Trinity Mission in Italy, Texas. She was born February 28, 1938, to James S. Woodall and Audie Irene Hadley Woodall in Italy, Texas, where she was a lifelong resident.

Clara graduated valedictorian of her class at Italy High School and received her bachelor’s degree from East Texas State Teacher’s College. She taught elementary school in Mesquite and was an active member of Central Baptist Church. Clara was very involved in the activities at Trinity Mission over a period of many years and had numerous friends there. She always had a smile on her face and made people happy in her presence. Clara loved her grandchildren and cherished her special memories with them.

Left to cherish her memory are her two sons Monte Owens and Kevin Owens, five granddaughters: Chantelle, Shawna, Samantha, Kari and Meagan, a grandson, Jeramy and numerous great-grandchildren. Clara was preceded in death by her parents, husband W.R. Hester, and sisters Dorothy Markham and Virginia Barr.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, January 5, 2015, at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Chapel in Italy.

Funeral services will be 12:00 noon Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Italy Chapel with Reverend Joseph Barrett officiating. Interment will follow at the Italy Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church in Italy.
