Italy Coliseum — Italy’s Gladiators celebrated 2015 Senior Night by honoring their seniors during halftime of the girls game with visiting Dallas Gateway in town. Cody Boyd, John Escamilla, Coby Jeffords, and Gary Kinkaid were escorted by family members and received appreciation gifts including team autographed basketballs.

The senior presentation was made following the JV boys game with Dallas Gateway’s JV being the ultimate victor.

Italy knew they had a tough task against district leading Dallas Gateway and the Gators were definitely an unstoppable scoring machine Tuesday night. With that said, the Gladiators just worked on their game, and battled all the way thru.

It was actually more of a tuneup game for Italy who really has their sites set on Itasca. An Italy win over Itasca will give the Gladiators a chance to make the playoffs and anything can happen in the payoffs!

Tuesday night’s fast-paced duel ended with a 120-67 win for the Gators but not before Italy’s seniors compete one last time inside the Coliseum.

Kinkaid scored 5-points including 1 three-pointer and Escamilla put in 8-points including a three-pointer. Kenneth Norwood, Jr. finished with 22-points including 5 three-pointers. Ryan Connor was on a mission scoring 15-points including going 5-out of-5 from the foul line. As a team, Italy recorded 8 three-pointers total and put in 11-out of-16 from the foul line.

Italy’s final district match will be Tuesday, February 17. The JV boys action starts at 6:00 p.m. and the varsity Gladiators get their chance against Itasca starting at 7:15 p.m. inside Italy Coliseum.
