On February 25, 2015, the Italy ISD Board of Trustees unanimously called a bond election for May 9, 2015 for $12,000,000 to address its current facilities needs.

The bond proposal will impact each Italy campus and will accomplish the following:

  • Increase building capacity to meet increased current student enrollment and provide space for future growth
  • Improve safety and security district-wide
  • Renovate existing facilities to meet building code requirements
  • Reconfigure campus grade levels to create a more traditional alignment for the district’s curriculum delivery and state testing requirements
  • Create a 21st century learning environment for students to gain knowledge through exploring with science, books, and other media resources
  • Improve our athletic program and band program through construction of new facilities

Italy ISD wants stakeholders to be involved, and we want you to know the facts surrounding this election. We will hold informational presentations regarding the bond on three different dates. We want to ensure that you understand what is being proposed as well as have an opportunity to ask any questions. The presentations will be held Monday, April 6th, Thursday, April 16th, and Thursday, April 23rd. Prior to the meetings, we will conduct a tour of our facilities for those interested. For the tour, we will meet in front of the high school at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will then follow at 7:00 p.m. in the Italy High School band hall.

You must be registered to vote in order to be eligible to vote in this election. If you are not yet registered, you must do so by Thursday, April 9, 2015. For your convenience, you will find the following link to register (http://www.co.ellis.tx.us/index.aspx?nid=312) on the Italy ISD website or you can contact the superintendent’s office or any campus office for a Texas Voter Registration Application.
