Commissioner Paul Perry Campaign Launch

“I am committed to being a dependable conservative voice on the commissioners’ court,” said Perry. “And there is still so much I hope to contribute to our county, like continuing to work hard to make our county government more transparent.”

“Also, with more than 30 years in the financial industry and a Baylor business degree concentrating on risk management and marketing, I bring something unique to the court,” he said. “In my second term, I will work to modify our budget process by making it more collaborative. I will also work to enhance the quality of our infrastructure, including roads and bridges, and continue standing against tax rate increases in the county.”

Perry’s service to Ellis County began in January 2013. The following are just, a few of his accomplishments:

  • Standing firm against tax rate increases
  • Refusing to accept a large pay increase
  • Enhancing road and bridge repairs through the introduction of innovative materials
  • Initiating a more efficient use of labor and resources within the precinct
  • Helping end the dumping of human waste-based sludge in Ellis County
  • Initiating the installation of an audio/video system in the courthouse
  • Allowing citizens to address the court by topic, rather than limiting them to only addressing the commissioners’ court at the beginning of meetings
  • Corresponding with constituents through social media, attending and sponsoring community meetings

“I am proud of these accomplishments, but we must continue to improve. For example, we can learn from some municipalities within the county,” said Perry. In particular, he cited the City of Midlothian’s Platinum level award from the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts for going above and beyond what is necessary to provide financial transparency.

Perry was raised in the Midlothian area and now resides with his family in southern Ellis County. He and his wife, Rebecca, have been married for 32 years and have eight children and three grandchildren. He enjoys cheering on his children in their endeavors – like watching his son lead the Ole Miss space law moot court team to victory, attending two daughters’ inductions into Phi Beta Kappa at Baylor, listening to his SMU daughter’s musical compositions being performed or seeing another daughter’s moving pro-life marketing campaigns.

Perry is an Optimist Club board member, Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce member, Midlothian Chamber of Commerce ex officio member, Ellis County SPCA county liaison, NRA life member, GOA life member and former YMCA board member. He has supported First Look and Texas Right to Life and has volunteered with Meals on Wheels.
