Italy High School senior Lady Gladiator Cassidy Childers commits with North Lake College, a Dallas County Community college, to play volleyball for the Lady Blazers.

The commitment ceremony was held inside Gladiator Coliseum with North Lake head coach Cathy Carter and assistant coach Brooke Walker in attendance. Also supporting Cassidy on her big day were parents Kelly and Richard Childers of Italy, Italy’s head volleyball coach Laquita Walker, Italy AD/HFC David Weaver, teammates, fellow students, teachers and her grandmother Lois Byrd.

Coachable and a hard worker, Cassidy was the 2015 Defensive MVP in her district and also received Italy Volleyball’s Defensive MVP team award during the Italy Athletic Fall Banquet. Cassidy’s defensive performance and overall play helped lead the Lady Gladiators into the playoffs during her senior season.

Congratulations Cassidy on committing to take your volleyball talents to the collegiate level while representing the old gold and white as a Lady Blazer!

Cassidy and the Lady Blazers will compete against her Lady Gladiator teammate Halee Turner and Halee’s Cedar Valley Lady Suns twice during the upcoming volleyball season. First on September 26, at Cedar Valley College in Lancaster, and again on October 17, at North Lake in Irving.

Congrats, Cassisdy! Gladiator Forever!!
