Hillsboro — Enjoy pictures from the Italy select baseball team’s dramatic rematch win over the Mexia Blackcats during the first round of State tournament play in Hillsboro Saturday. Reid Jacinto delivered the shot heard around the complex pulling off a game tying inside-the-park grand slam homerun on a hit to the right field fence which made the score 6-6.

Reece Marshall would score off a single hit by Caden Jacinto followed by Kevin Roldan’s second double of the contest to score Caden Jacinto giving Italy an 8-6 margin.

With Mexia desperate to match Italy, an illegal collision at the plate resulted in an out being charged to the Blackcats. Catcher John Escamilla held his ground and took the shoulder from Mexia’s runner to keep the run off the board and totally rob Mexia’s momentum.

A gutsy Caden Jacinto pitched until the 2 hour time limit was reached helping to secure Italy’s 8-6 comeback victory.

No Guts, No Glory!
