Please tell us a little about yourself (current work, education, experience, background).

I currently own and operate Hobbs Feed & Supply here in Italy going on 4 years. My education after high school consists of The University of Texas Health and Science Center of Houston, Houston Fire Academy, and Texas A&M University.

How many Council meetings did you attend in the past 12 months?

Since appointed in August of 2011, I have only missed 1 meeting.

Why are you seeking to be the Mayor of Italy?

It is time for a change in city government including management of the different departments and minimizing the budget utilizing the assets we have at hand. I have a lot of knowledge here in Italy due to the relationships I have with employees from various departments.

What qualifications or experience do you possess that voters should consider?

My qualifications include experience with other cities, public relations, emergency management, budgeting, and management skills to perform the duties of mayor. I have been on the Italy City Council for about a year and a half.

What do you consider the most important issue facing our town today?

The issues are the streets, water system, public image, and lack of marketing to inspire new business development for city growth.

What do you want to accomplish during the next 2 years?

I want to see the streets improved, continued water system improvements, and public relations with citizens to flourish.

What do you consider the most important and least important duties the Mayor has?

All duties of the mayor are important. They can effect each and every one of us.

What do you think should be the top priorities of the city after this election?

Meetings with department heads to merge management skills in different departments therefore utilizing them to their maximum potential.

Is there anything you would want to change about the way the city is run?

Yes

How do you plan to draw new businesses or industry to Italy?

Marketing and attending conventions that expose the City of Italy to the opportunities available for new business.

What community services have you given any community in the past?

The City of Italy Park Board, Lions Club of Italy, and many other charitable organizations.

What do you think could be done to cut expenses in the city budget, if any?

Meet with the department heads establishing goals for the first fiscal year, followed by the second. The budget will be addressed at that time by using different management skills in budgeting and using any excess assets to lower the liabilities the city has to incur. This will save the city money to pay down on the sewer and/or water to potentially lower the water bill. The second year should be spent in part making sure that these budgets and goals are within a growing city.
