The Lady Gladiators lost their first district match against Milford on Saturday. The scores were 25-19, 25-18 and 25-22. Italy played with enthusiasm however the Lady Bulldogs overcame.

In the third set, it seemed there was a good chance for the Lady Gladiators to reset the record. The momentum was building and Drew Windham, Becca DeMoss, Blanca Figueroa and Cori Jeffords played with power but it was just not enough to stop Milford.

Head Coach Andi Windham said, “We have gotten better and had high expectations for Saturday, but it seemed that Milford just wanted it more.”

Senior team player, Becca DeMoss said, “We made some careless mistakes on Saturday. If we keep playing with our heads up though, the team will do better.”

When asked about the upcoming match against Avalon, DeMoss predicts, “The team should do fine if we practice hard.” Coach Windham replied, “I hope the girls are fired up about playing our neighbors from Avalon. We can win if we come out to play.”

The next district game is against the Avalon Lady Eagles in Italy on Tuesday, September 16 at 5:30 p.m.
