Italy – The Lady Gladiator varsity volleyball team put one in the win column Tuesday night when they hosted their South Ellis County rivals, the Lady Bulldogs of Milford. They won all three games 25-22, 25-20 and 25-21.
The Italy 7th and 8th grade girls lead the march in the first Junior High Volleyball games of the season this week. The Lady Bulldogs traveled from Milford to play the Lady Gladiators. The 7th grade won the first sets in the best two games, winning 25-15 and 25-16. Coach Tina Richards said, “I am very proud of the 7th grade. This is a great way to start our season-with a win!”
Inside one of the world’s ultimate storm shelters, a Monolithic dome, known locally as Italy Gladiator Coliseum, the Lady Gladiators battled the Lady Milford Bulldogs in volleyball.
This week names were released for the District 13A All-District Honors for volleyball. Five Italy students received honors, as well as five from Avalon, four from Milford and four from Frost. The list reads as follows:
The Milford Lady Bulldogs came to Italy and stopped the Lady Gladiators Tuesday night in four sets of volleyball.
The undefeated Milford Lady Bulldogs scored another win against the Waxahachie Advantage Academy Eagles on Tuesday night. The Lady Bulldogs’ success has been attributed to hard work and a family atmosphere.
The Lady Gladiators lost their first district match against Milford on Saturday. The scores were 25-19, 25-18 and 25-22. Italy played with enthusiasm however the Lady Bulldogs overcame.
