The Pedraza, Hernandez and the Apaz families fled from their homes in Houston on Friday, September 12 to avoid hurricane Ike. Where else would you go to be safe but a Monolithic Dome?

That’s right, they came to Italy, Texas to seek safety in the Domes but this is not the first time. Three years ago, they had to evacuate their homes because of Hurricane Rita. The storm surge caused extensive damage along the Louisiana and extreme southeastern Texas coasts and completely destroyed some coastal communities. But Rita never got to Houston. “We were lucky, our homes were safe. The only thing out of the ordinary was lots of trash was blown everywhere.” explained Jasmine Pedraqza

The families left for home on Sunday, we hope they are as lucky as they were last time.
