Wednesday, September 24, Italy Lions Club members along with some members from the Dallas Lions Club were giving free eye exams and free glasses to children that needed them. They were set up at Stafford Elementary and were serving children from Milford, Italy and Avalon.

The eye exams were given in a bus provided by the Lions Club. Inside the bus is set up like an eye doctor’s office. When you walk in you see a table set up with many frames for the students to choose from. At the end of the bus is the doctor’s office set-up with everything needed to give students a good and thorough eye exam. Doctor Donna Haas is the attending doctor. “I am helping kids to see. The Lions are awesome, they set everything up on the bus and all I have to do is show up and go to work.” Dr. Haas has been involved with this clinic for five years.

Cathy Fletcher is a Lions Club member from Dallas and she explained, “Basically we are here to help the community and help the Italy Lions get glasses to the kids that need them.”

Everything the Lions Club is able to provide is provided by money raised through fundraisers and donations. They are a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization. If you would like to donate to this cause you can call 972-276-1250, or mail a check made out to: Lions Sight and Tissue Foundation to
