The hearts of the citizens of Italy are compassionate, loving and selfless. This was certainly proven on Saturday night, October 25 at the Donovan Lusk fundraiser. Uptown Italy was bustling with hungry folks enjoying a wonderful dinner at the Up Town Cafe. Then they were seen at Wayne Boze’s community center bidding on terrific items in the Silent Auction in order to raise money for Donovan and his family.

Wayne Boze’s Community Center was over flowing with items that were donated for the Silent Auction. There were jewelry boxes, jewelry, framed pictures, a child’s size four-wheeler, a basket over flowing with candy and lots, lots more.

Blake Oliver and Dakota Threadgill were very excited about the basket of candy up for bid. Blake placed a bid for $1,000 for that delicious candy!

Melodious tunes could be heard coming from Wane Boze’s Community Center. Justin Guthrie and Damon See made sure everyone was entertained. Justin Guthrie is the lead singer and Damon See is the lead guitar. Some of the tunes they played were: “Daniel I Swear”, “I’ve Gone Crazy”, “The Way She Makes Me”, “My Song” and “Save Me”.

Lynn Rudd, Donovan’s teacher at school said, “I think Donovan Lusk is a great child. He is always loving, he looks at you with those big brown eyes and you just fall in love with him. He just wants lots of love. He is a very happy little boy, he goes around school all the time just grinning. Donovan’s parents, Amanda and Darrin are doing such a great job with him and I really admire them.”

Robbie Addington Jones, Donovan’s Aunt said, “We appreciated everyone that came out and showed their support. It was just a wonderful outpouring of love from the citizens of Italy and the surrounding communities. We raised $4,500 and donations are still coming in. Thank you everyone.”

If you would like to make donations there is an account at Citizen’s National Bank set up for Donovan and you can make a donation directly to him.

Way to go Italy, a job well done.
