Louder, I Can’t Hear You
Yesterday evening at 7:00 PM Milford’s Junior High presented their one act play, “Louder, I Can’t Hear You”. Along with the play you could bid on delicious baked goods and also enjoy some ice cream while watching a great performance.
The Junior High students out did themselves. You could not get through this play without laughing your head off. Eric Evans with his role of Oscar, the dad, along with Rachel Strange in her role as Marge, the mom, were superb in their roles.
This play is a comedy about people not really listening to each other. They put a humorous spin on the fact that people don’t listen to one another anymore and what happens when people don’t “hear” one another.
Playwright Gleason puts together a family with each member in his or her own world. They are losing the ability to communicate. The young mother, Ann, is just tired of no one listening to her. She sees her family not communicating with one another and decides to seek help from a psychiatrist, only he doesn’t “hear” either.
There is a final effort in which the family try to involve themselves with each other leading to a wry and humorous conclusion.
Cheryl Sessums and Khristy Strange co-directed this play and did a wonderful job. “The kids have been absolutely wonderful, they have learned all their lines and have done everything we have asked them to, the play is terrific,” said Cheryl Sessums.
Khristy Strange said, “This is the best group I have had in a decade. I expect to come home with first place on Saturday.”
Marilee Byrne (Milford ISD Principal) had this to say, “This is the second year that we have had a Jr. High one act play and we are real excited about this. We love to keep the kids involved.”
Everyone in this cast out did themselves and together put on a wonderful performance for us all to enjoy.
UIL competition will be held at Frost ISD on Saturday, November 22, doors open at 1:00 PM and Milford ISD is the second act.
Way to go Milford Junior High!
